Mallacoota

Mallacoota is situated in East Gippsland the South Eastern corner of Australia.

The town is surrounded by the Croajingolong National Park and is characterised by a maze of lakes and rivers spilling into the Southern Ocean. Native flora and fauna abound, while the opportunities for recreational activities are almost endless.

The town is a popular holiday destination for fishing, swimming, surfing, snorkeling, bushwalking, camping and caravaning.

The area's natural beauty is truly stunning, with the Howe Ranges forming a backdrop to the two main lakes to the North and sweeping views of the ocean available from many vantage points in and around town.

Gabo Island

Gabo Island Lighthouse

Built in 1862 the Gabo Island lighthouse is constructed from pink granite taken from the island, notably also used in the construction of the Melbourne Post Office. Standing at 47 metres high it is the second tallest lighthouse in Australia.

Gabo Island is separated from the mainland by a narrow channel of approximately 1 kilomtere and local operaters provide access by boat and light aircraft.
